AUTO WIPER FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
(a) If the wiper system is malfunctioning, the windshield wiper motor and link assembly (wiper ECU) performs a fail-safe function to control the system.

RAIN SENSOR FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
(a) The windshield wiper switch assembly performs the fail-safe function when the wiper system cannot properly receive the necessary signals for wiper system control or a wiper system component is malfunctioning.
