ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT TOWING CONVERTER RELAY

HINT:

Remove interior parts so that the towing converter relay can be seen.

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

1 (CTLB) - Body ground

Light control switch off

Below 1 V

Light control switch in tail position

11 to 14 V

2 (CTLS) - Body ground

Turn signal switch off

Below 1 V

Turn signal switch on (left turn)

Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V

Brake pedal depressed

11 to 14 V

Turn signal switch on (left turn) with brake pedal depressed

Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V

3 (CTLA) - Body ground

Light control switch off

Below 1 V

Light control switch in tail position

11 to 14 V

4 (TRNL) - Body ground

Turn signal switch off

Below 1 V

Turn signal switch on (left turn)

Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V

6 (CTRS) - Body ground

Turn signal switch off

Below 1 V

Turn signal switch on (right turn)

Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V

Brake pedal depressed

11 to 14 V

Turn signal switch on (right turn) with brake pedal depressed

Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V

8 (COB1) - Body ground

Always

11 to 14 V

9 (COS1) - Body ground

Brake pedal not depressed

Below 1 V

Brake pedal depressed

11 to 14 V

10 (TRNR) - Body ground

Turn signal switch off

Below 1 V

Turn signal switch on (right turn)

Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V

If the result is not as specified, replace the towing converter relay.

(Towing Converter Relay)

(b) Disconnect the towing converter relay connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

5 (COZ1) - Body ground

Always

Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the harness or connector.
