ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT TOWING CONVERTER RELAY

HINT:

Remove interior parts so that the towing converter relay can be seen.

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
1 (CTLB) - Body ground	Light control switch off	Below 1 V
1 (CTLB) - Body ground	Light control switch in tail position	11 to 14 V
2 (CTLS) - Body ground	Turn signal switch off	Below 1 V
	Turn signal switch on (left turn)	Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
	Brake pedal depressed	11 to 14 V
	Turn signal switch on (left turn) with brake pedal depressed	Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
3 (CTLA) - Body ground	Light control switch off	Below 1 V
3 (CTLA) - Body ground	Light control switch in tail position	11 to 14 V
4 (TRNL) - Body ground	Turn signal switch off	Below 1 V
4 (TRNL) - Body ground	Turn signal switch on (left turn)	Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
6 (CTRS) - Body ground	Turn signal switch off	Below 1 V
	Turn signal switch on (right turn)	Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
	Brake pedal depressed	11 to 14 V
	Turn signal switch on (right turn) with brake pedal depressed	Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
8 (COB1) - Body ground	Always	11 to 14 V
9 (COS1) - Body ground	Brake pedal not depressed	Below 1 V
9 (COS1) - Body ground	Brake pedal depressed	11 to 14 V
10 (TRNR) - Body ground	Turn signal switch off	Below 1 V
10 (TRNR) - Body ground	Turn signal switch on (right turn)	Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V

If the result is not as specified, replace the towing converter relay.

*a	Component with harness connected (Towing Converter Relay)

(b) Disconnect the towing converter relay connector.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
5 (COZ1) - Body ground	Always	Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the harness or connector.
