INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn the front oil pump drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and check that it rotates smoothly.

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the lip of the front oil pump oil seal.

2. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP BODY AND GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Inspect the body clearance:

(1) Pull the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

(2) Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.

Standard Clearance:

0.12 to 0.17 mm (0.00472 to 0.00669 in.)

Maximum Clearance:

0.17 mm (0.00669 in.)

If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body sub-assembly.

(b) Inspect the side clearance:

(1) Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

Standard Side Clearance:

0.025 to 0.04 mm (0.000984 to 0.00157 in.)

Maximum Side Clearance:

0.04 mm (0.00157 in.)

If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body sub-assembly.

3. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the front oil pump body sub-assembly bushing.

Standard Inside Diameter:

43.135 to 43.160 mm (1.69822 to 1.69921 in.)

Maximum Inside Diameter:

43.160 mm (1.69921 in.)

If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

4. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft assembly.

Standard Inside Diameter:

22.500 to 22.526 mm (0.88583 to 0.88685 in.)

Maximum Inside Diameter:

22.526 mm (0.88685 in.)

If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the stator shaft assembly.
